As a baby witch doing her research some time ago, Beltane never appealed to me. ANOTHER sex holiday? Ugh okay. Not that I’m a prude or anything (#getit). Gotta make more baby pagans I guess. But going deeper, there’s another side to this fertility sabbat, and that is celebrating Earth’s abundance and Earth being on the verge of a prosperous summer season.
But there’s also a darker aspect to this fire festival – witch hunting.
Turning a Celebration of Earth’s Fertility into a Celebration of Self-Love
The following is an excerpt from my Beltane Seasonal Workbook – more on that in a minute!
I propose we turn this celebration of Earth’s fertility into a celebration of self-love and self-care to keep our own internal flame burning bright. With Beltane and the seasonal celebration of overt sexuality becoming a problem of sorts with the old Christian Church, we should remember and embrace the softness and warmth of this season’s origins. The Earth is blossoming around all of us and the days are getting warmer and slower. Now is a time to flip all of the negative connotations of this day and give into celebrating abundance as a whole. And why shouldn’t that include inner abundance? Beltane should be reclaimed as a day recognizing all of us witches no matter the path of our various crafts and realizing all the abundant magick that we hold within.
A Seasonal Beltane Workbook
Officially announcing the second of my witchy workbooks, which is all about Beltane and how to celebrate as a modern witch! I had a lot of setbacks getting this workbook put together, but she is finally finished! I am also quite proud of the images throughout the workbook – a new phone/camera makes all the difference. It makes me want to reshoot my other workbook haha.
Anyway, included in the Beltane workbook is a history of the fire festival, different easy ways to use edible flowers, a tarot spread, a fire ritual, and more.
Oh, and it’s only $7.50 until Friday! If you are interested, you can check out the workbook via my shop!
