The Winter Solstice marks the the longest night of the year, with the subsequent return of our sun and daylight hours. It’s hard to imagine the days are getting longer for those who seem to be in a never ending winter and when it gets dark at 5pm! I have been enjoying the lights on our tree and patio and lighting a candle or two in the evenings though. We don’t need snow in Houston to notice our northern hemisphere is getting darker and quieter.
With various holidays coming up it can feel overwhelming trying to prepare the house, entertain endless guests, host or attend holiday parties, plan and execute feasts (let alone regular meals), the list goes on! This is traditionally supposed to be not only a time of merrymaking but also a time of quiet reflection as we get ready to face a new year. But who has time to sit and think when there are a million and a half things to do? I know I’m going crazy trying to juggle being a new stay at home mother, run a business, plan for Yule and my sister visiting (can’t wait!), plan for my brother in law visiting and New Years, PLUS work related campaigns, promotions, and blog posts that I’m kicking 2019 off with, oh and maybe take care of myself?
I came up with this tarot spread to help you wrap up what’s been holding you back or trying to follow you into the new year. Take a few moments to address any lingering anxieties or negative energies so that you can cross one more thing off the mental to do list as we enter a joyous time of year. With one less thing on your mind it will make that fourth trip to Target this week seem not so bad. Okay, I can’t totally promise that as nothing bad ever happens in a Target, but still. These are also excellent journalling questions if tarot isn’t your jam.
Yuletide Blessings everyone!
