Full Moon in Gemini: Working with Mercury’s Retrograde

Happy Thanksgiving week all! I can’t believe that the traditional holiday season is already upon us. We recently had my husband’s mother and stepfather come down to Texas for a visit and this week we’re hosting my grandparents. I’m thankful that even though we’re far away from family that we can still see some of them this time of year!

Full Moons always bring out the crazy in people but add a Mercury Retrograde into the mix and you might be questioning everyone’s sanity. Normally, the Full Moon is wonderful to do some serious magick and get shit done. However with Mercury being in retrograde until December 6th (but this planet won’t be in retrograde again until March 2019!) and Gemini’s ruling planet being Mercury, I would proceed with extreme caution.

Gemini and Mercury Retrograde

While the Full Moon will be in Gemini, Mercury will be in Sagittarius during this retrograde which could mean major issues with the usual suspects of technology and communication, but also travel which is in Sagittarius’ domain. Going somewhere for the Thanksgiving holiday? Get ready! Your travel plans may hit a couple roadblocks (pun intended).

A Gemini Full Moon Mercury Retrograde survival kit might include the following:

extra phone/device chargers
a water bottle – gotta stay hydrated and ready for anything!
a favorite rose quartz or hematoid quartz pendant
a favorite stress relieving activity – knitting, a good book, or a meditation app

Lend a helping hand to those you notice in distress this week especially. It’s stressful enough to travel for the holidays without having to worry about a Full Moon and a difficult planet retrograde. Rack up that holiday season good karma.

In regards to the magickal side of things, take this time to recognize all you’ve accomplished this moon cycle, but don’t be afraid to take a little break and shelve a project until the retrograde has passed. It’s the start of the holiday season, so don’t feel bad about kicking back for a bit and spending time with family. It’s wonderful to cross off your to do list but you might be alienating loved ones if you keep working head down. Light up the fireplace, make some hot toddies, and just listen to each other. Sometimes, we learn how to communicate better with each other if we just shut the hell up every once in a while. Share stories. Ask questions. Listen. A simple way to setup an environment of open communication is to set out a cinnamon based candle surrounded by rose quartz. How cozy and inviting!

As always, let me know if you have any questions or just want someone to talk tarot and witchy woowoo with. I am always on instagram or twitter, let’s chat!
